Your dedicated wine guide is here! We’re thrilled to introduce Arnaldo Burgos, First Bottle’s newest addition to our sales team, ready to help elevate your wine collection with that perfect bottle.
Arnaldo brings over 12 years of experience in the wine world. From working alongside top-tier sommeliers to tasting some of the rarest vintages on the planet, his journey is one marked by passion, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to his clients.
“It all started when I was in culinary school, and I decided to dive into the wine program,” says Arnaldo. That decision led to work at a local wine shop, which eventually opened doors to a sommelier position at Arcadia, thanks to a recommendation from none other than Master Sommelier Alan Murray. “That was my big break,” Arnaldo recalls. From there, he worked at some of San Francisco’s most iconic spots before making the move to Napa Valley.
In his new role at First Bottle, Arnaldo is focused on building personalized experiences for wine lovers. “I help clients find the perfect bottle,” he says simply. “A referral from a happy client is the greatest compliment.”
When asked about the moment he fell in love with wine, Arnaldo recalls his college roommate—a Welshman with a particular fondness for Puligny-Montrachet. “Taste good Puligny and get back to me,” he jokes, but it’s clear that Burgundy has captured his heart ever since.
While Arnaldo has tasted some incredible wines over the years, a bottle that stands out is a 1953 Trockenbeerenauslese he had at Mourad. “Layers of pineapple upside down cake with a finish that went on forever,” he reminisces. “I could still taste it on the way home.”
Arnaldo has traveled the world exploring wine cultures, but one trip to Oslo stands out. “We were told they didn’t have much of a wine culture—boy, were we wrong! Restaurants had multiple sommeliers on staff, and their state-run wine shops had amazing bottles at unbelievable prices. Such a lovely experience.”
As much as he enjoys wine travel, Arnaldo loves calling Napa Valley home. “I’ve been here for eight years, and there’s truly no place like it.” When he’s not helping clients with their wine selections, you’ll find him enjoying local spots like Don Giovanni, Bouchon, or Solbar at Solage. He’s often accompanied by his wife and their two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, affectionately called “dingos.”
If he could open any bottle in the world? “1945 DRC RC, with my mom.”.
